Eco-Tour description NOHOCH also
known as Jungle Crossing
Join us on a unique and exciting expedition that will
take you on a journey of discovery into some of the most
breathtaking natural wonders in Mexico. You will be
picked up at your hotel and taken to a jungle location
where you will board our Mercedes Benz Unimog 4x4
all-terrain vehicles.
Fro m
there we venture into the heart of the jungle and visit
Rancho San Felipe, a small Mayan family community where
the Nohoch Nah Chich Cenote system is located. Here
we'll take you on an unforgettable snorkeling adventure
into the fresh waters of this, the longest underground
river system in the world.
With your underwater flashlights and snorkel gear, that
we supply, you will be amazed at the unsurpassable
beauty of the stalactite and stalagmite formations above
and below this crystal-clear water. The water is so
clear in this system that swimming actually feels like
flying!
Leaving here we cross the ranch to "Heavens Gate",
another entrance to this beautiful underground river
system, and enter to appreciate another perspective on
this incredible natural wonder. Returning to the ranch a
delicious Mexican lunch will be waiting for us, a
typical Mayan dish prepared with local ingredients.
After lunch we will allow you the opportunity to get to
know the ranch and it's inhabitants, a small Mayan
family that have lived in this remote jungle location
for the last 30 years. Leaving the ranch in our trucks
we continue our expedition to the virtually untouched
bay of Punta Soliman, where we enjoy a gentle kayak trip
out to the reef system.
On arrival at the reef we get wet and lead you on a
snorkeling tour that allows you the opportunity to
appreciate the spectacular corals, sponges and tropical
fish of the Mexican Caribbean.
Jungle Crossing thus offers an action-packed day that
combines 4x4 trekking, jungle, Caribbean sea,
underground river systems, snorkeling, kayaking and an
encounter with a Mayan culture living far from our
civilized world.

Tour
description PAC-CHEN also known
as Mayan Encounter
To see the real Mexico you must leave the town and
traffic far behind and join us for an expedition into
the heart of the Yucatan jungle where we will show you a
Mexico that most tourists, and many Mexicans, never see.
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken on an
historical journey that spans 1500 years of Mayan
culture. Our first stop is the recently-opened ancestral
city of Coba, an archaeological site hidden deep inside
the rain forest of the south-eastern Yucatan, where we
will guide you through the history that pertains to this
site in particular and to the region in general.
Walking through these verdant green vegetation-covered
ruins one literally feels the ancient rhythms of this
once strong city-state, and climbing the Nohoch Muul
temple (the highest in the state) one can truly
appreciate the pristine beauty and immeasurable vastness
of the surrounding sub-tropical rain forest. Leaving
here we penetrate deeper into the jungle to the
authentic Mayan village of Pac Chen, a self-sufficient
community of approximately 100 indigenous people living
next to an integral part of the region's lagoon system.
Together with the locals we walk through their forest,
learning of the local fauna and flora, enjoy a zip-line
crossing over one of their incredibly beautiful open
cenotes (sinkholes), rappel 45 ft down into and swim in
the sacred cenote Balaam Kin, canoe and swim on their
lagoon, and next to the same lagoon enjoy a delicious
lunch prepared by the local women.
Entering their homes in the jungle one is able to truly
appreciate how these people live and survive far from
the "civilized" lifestyles that we are accustomed to.
Mayan Encounter therefore offers a great combination of
history, adventure and culture all in one
adventure-filled day.
