About SeaMonkey  Playa del Carmen Riviera Maya

I came here to Playa del Carmen because I needed some sunshine after the rain of Vancouver (noting against Vancouver its a beautiful city just to much rain).  Of course I thought I would only spend 1 year here and I am still counting.  I went diving in one of these caverns or also known as cenotes and I just fell in love with them that's what made me get involve with Sealife divers and become a scuba diving instructor.

I also love the fact that people here are from all over even though some times you think you are in Italy.  I have meat allot of interesting people in playa del carmen which I can call home now.  This web site grew from a growing need of my friends vacation plans, they always asked me what can I do? were can I stay? etc so now I just say go and look at www.seamonkeybusiness.com

I am also involved with helping animals in our area. In Mexico there is an overpopulation problem to say the least! Most cats and dogs are homeless and unhealthy. We capture wild cats (and some dogs), Spay and Neuter them and care for them during the recovery process then release them back into their home ground. This is the only humane way to treat the problem. We have an American vet (Michele) who has volunteered her skills for free and a local vet who grants us use of her clinic for sterile surgeries. We raise money whenever we can to buy the supplies needed for the surgeries. Someday, we hope to afford more supplies to care for the injured and sick as well as vaccines for the street animals we capture. We have also helped some of the locals that could not afford to pay for the surgery or care.

And because I have so much time on my hands I also volunteer for the fire department and Civil Protection.  So during hurricane season you will find our group running around helping were help is needed.
