Is it safe to drink the water?
We provide bottled drinking water for each room and suggest
that you also use it to
brush your teeth.
2. Should we rent a car?
Yes, having a car is very useful to visit the many sights
and restaurants in the area. The
closest town, Tulum, is about 8 miles away.
3. Is there sand in front of Maya Jardin and are the pictures
accurate?
Yes, the pictures represent your room right on the beach.
There is 30 to 40 feet of
sand directly in front of Maya Jardin, but since the floor of
the bay in front has rocks
and coral, we suggest you kayak out to the really awesome
snorkeling and swimming areas
or bring reef shoes.
4. What is provided for free?
The sea kayaks, life vests, snorkeling gear - fins, snorkel,
mask, and some reef shoes
are provided. (Since we cant have all sizes, you may want to
bring your own reef shoes.)

water and chips in the room.
Your daily continental breakfast includes yogurt, sweet rolls,

Very few restaurants or shops take credit cards in this

spend. You can also bring
travelers checks to exchange at the bank or any of the many "cambio"
change stands.
6. Is there an emergency phone number we can give our family?
Yes, our cell number is 011 52 986 877 1974 (there is no
land line phone service in the
local area).
7. Should I bring my laptop?
Remember it is your vacation, but if you do, we have
wireless Internet access via
satellite for free in our breakfast palapa. You can also visit
one of the many Internet
cafes in Tulum for Internet access and calls home.
8. Will my cell phone work?
Mobile cell phone coverage is pretty good in the entire
Riviera Maya. Some US and
Canadian cell phone providers have agreements with the two
Mexican mobile phone
companies to provide service to their customers. HOWEVER, in
most cases you must
contact your provider at home before leaving to have this
feature activated on your
cell phone. You should also know that this service is expensive.
Check with your provider
on rates and be aware that additional local charges may be added
on.
